This is an exciting yet challenging read for leaders as it offers people the opportunity to transfer design thinking approaches into daily leadership activities. An important step for me is placing yourself into the world of others and seeing problems / issues and thoughts through their eyes.
This paper made me think what other QI methods and approaches have transferable lessons for leadership, should we complete our weekly PDSA cycles with reflections to help us learn? What are your thoughts?
Empathy & Inclusiveness Leadership starts with empathy. To earn the respect of your team, clients and other people involved, it is important to show empathy and understand their needs. When you care for your team, customers and other stakeholders, they in turn care for you. Design thinking starts with the end users in mind; it creates a thinking framework where you build empathy and inclusiveness.
